The Dingle Peninsula has more interesting antiquities, historic sites, and varied mountain scenery than any other part of Ireland.

Dingle is situated in a Gaeltacht region. There are many opportunities to hear traditional Celtic music in the town, particularly in the summer tourist season. Dingle has a number of pubs as well as restaurants and cafes. For a number of years it has been possible to rely on a resident dolphin named Fungi showing up for tour boats operating from the harbour. The town has a growing arts and well-known jeweller Brian de Staic is based there, as is the pottery master Louis Mulcahy

Also in and around the town of Dingle are approximately 2,000 archaeological sites. One of the most famous Christian sites is the St Gallarus Oratory which was thought to have been built between the seventh and ninth century. Another great place to visit for tourists and a  favorite place for coffee and homemade ice cream is Murphy's Ice Cream, owned by two brothers originally from the United States.  The signs around the Peninsula are written in Irish and English; you can hear Irish spoken as you walk the streets; daily Mass at St. Mary's is said in Irish
